Under the INSPIRE Project for Inclusive Growth and Regenerative Ecosystems and the MAP-ELCA project, GDFI partnered with ICSC to map and assess blue carbon sediment stock (carbon stored in mangroves and seagrasses) in selected areas of Guiuan, Salcedo, Mercedes, Paranas, and Samar to mitigate climate change.

DENR-GMRPLS spearheaded the establishment of a Network of Marine Sanctuaries in the GMRPLS area. GDFI was designated as a member of the Research and Development committee for the Network's official management body.

EDF became an official partner of GDFI to support holistic fisheries management planning within the A7 for ICZM areas. Through EDF's Small Scale Fishers (SSF) Hub, the project facilitated cross-border interaction and knowledge sharing between municipal fishers in the A7 communities and international fishers.

GDFI mobilized resources from individual donors for a fundraising campaign aimed at rebuilding the Bagonbanua Training and Research Station, originally destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan. The station is intended to provide hands-on training in coastal resource assessment and monitoring for students, researchers, and study groups.

An inter-LGU alliance meeting held at the Rosvenil Hotel in Tacloban City to review financial status, annual dues, contributions, and proposed 2023 activities. The meeting marked a transition in leadership, selecting Mayor Kwan as the new chairperson of the alliance.
